65. How this Latina Created a Space to Celebrate Her Latinida with Elyssa Bustamante
What do you do when you don't find a space that celebrates every part of you and your culture?
You create it! That's exactly what our amiga Elyssa Bustamante AKA The Funky Latina did.
Elyssa Bustamante AKA “The Funky Latina” is a music blogger and event producer based in Phoenix. She created and produced the inaugural Funky Latina Music Festival in 2022. Most recently, she was a Partner and Music Curator for Phochella Arts & Culture Music Festival and Host of the non-partisan pop-up concert series, Joy to the Polls, in Phoenix.
In this episode Elyssa created a space for Latinos to celebrate their music and culture and the steps she took to bring The Funky Latina Festival to life.
In this Episode we covered:
-
How to embrace out culture through music.
-
The importance of community building.
-
How she got out of her own way to bring her vision to life.
